That is what Summer Is

Remember the smell of the roses and meat cooking on the barbeque

Remember the freshly baked cookies drifting through the air

You’re sitting on the couch sweating and the window is open

As you sit up to catch the wind

That was Summer

Emily, that is a lovely poem- you make me think of sunshine! We haven’t had a very good summer here in Palmerston North this year, and it is grey and windy here again this morning. But your poem reminds me of the lovely warmth of summer.

    Hi Emily,
What a lovely poem you’ve written here. I like the way you’ve used your senses to help describe your memories of summer. It’s bitterly cold here in England at the moment, the thought of being out in the sunshine having a lovely BBQ is wonderful. My favourite part of summer is that you get lots more daylight so you get to spend more time doing fun activities outside!
    Keep up the great writing.
    Miss. Leakey

Emily, I love the sound and the feel of your poem. I love the way you have described your memory of summer. I guess you are counting down til summer again. We in New Zealand are enjoying an amazing long, hot summer. We really miss Miss Leakey! Get her to tell you about some of her adventures with us at the beach in Dunedin, maybe!
