Homework Challenge 2012
It is this time of year that we get to see all the hard work that our students put into their homework challenge. This is an optional homework programme that a family can opt into at the start of each year. There are lots of different things to be involved in as a family with activities falling into these categories ~ Future Focus, Academic Excellence, Physical Activity & the Outdoors, Giving, Excellence in the Arts and Service in School & Community.
Here is Cullen’s Homework Challenge for 2012.
- Cullen designed a fashion look for the future.
- Complete with Black Jedi Cloak with walkie talkies built into the arms for the boys and a silver spacesuit with parachute skirt for jumping off high buildings for the girls.
- As part of Academic Excellence, Cullen made a working wind powered gadget using re-cycled materials.
- He also created a new muffin recipe and trialled it. Everyone agreed that his rainbow muffin recipe is one to keep!
- Cullen hard at work creating in the kitchen.
- As part of Giving, Cullen donated old toys to the Invercargill Women’s Refuge. He received a letter from them telling Cullen what good use his old toys were getting.
- When looking into the future, Cullen decided to interview someone with an interesting job – an archaeologist called Dr Mick Morrison.
This is only a few of the many things that Cullen got up to during the year.
We think this is a wonderful example of how a student can rise to the homework challenge!
