There are many different ways you can help your child to develop their thinking around time and what it means to them.
You could try ~
making a point of using the calendar, TV guide to work out when different events or programmes are happening. Language such as yesterday, today, tomorrow, before, after, seasons, days, weeks and months will help build your child’s vocabulary.
telling family stories about the past, looking at photographs and talking about the changes that have happened since the photograph was taken.
doing baking and other activities that require time to be measured eg. 30 minutes in the oven help build an understanding of time.
These are only a few of the ways you can support your child develop their awareness of and build their thinking about time.
Come into school and see what is happening in the classroom to explore time as an idea and concept.
